The poverty Cindy witnessed growing up in Brazil fueled her drive to make the world a better place. Cindy is Co-founder of Speak Shop, the award-winning B Corporation that offers live online Spanish tutoring. Cindy also teaches social entrepreneurship and oversees the Social Innovation Incubator at Portland State University’s School of Business Administration. Previously, Cindy developed and managed programs for non-profits such as the Social Entrepreneurship Incubator and Net Impact and worked in international marketing and marketing research at Nike and The Capital Group Companies Inc. She has consulted on strategic planning, marketing, social entrepreneurship and sustainability to clients such as Nike, Meyer Memorial Trust, Verité and Ashoka’s Changemakers. A Brazilian American, Cindy has worked as a tutor in Spanish and translator in Portuguese. She holds a Master of International Management with distinguished honors from Thunderbird and graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Claremont McKenna College with a B.A. in Psychology and Spanish.
